Fun With Special Rocks

Last week we went to a rock shop in Orem that someone in our ward informed us of. I was super excited as I have a love for rocks and crystals. Turns out this rock shop leads free trips around Utah to go find your own rocks too! Very fun! Joshua and Austin both got a free polished rock for going in with me and Joshua already had his own Citrine crystal from a different store in Salt Lake.

I read last night about different ways to cleanse crystals. (You may wonder why crystals need cleansing at all...just to keep it brief, they can hold on to negative energy. Some people just like rocks and don't buy into any of crystal's metaphysical properties...but I am of course not one of those people. :)) I knew about leaving them in salt water, or leaving them in a window sill on a full moon...but this website also mentioned leaving them in a stream with running water over them or leaving them out in the sun light for a few hours, among other things. SO this morning the boys and I put our "special rocks" on paper towels in the garden for a few hours of some cleansing and energizing sunlight.

We each had our own paper towel for OUR special rocks and put them right where we wanted them in the garden. Joshua and Austin BOTH really love their rocks and like to carry them around with them often.

This day Joshua and I were playing and I was laying down just energetically feeling all the different stones on me and Joshua wanted to try it out too...so we set him up with a little crystal spread of his own. SUPER fun! I'm excited for the kids to be into this from a young age.

Love those pictures Am!

And what a fun, memorable, educational, creative and inexpensive experience you created with your cute boys.
Those are the best times! Especially with pictures and journaling to remember.

I had never heard of cleansing rocks/minerals. Cannon started his collection when he was 4. He has found some all over Utah and has a rock polisher too. I will have to tell him the different ways to cleanse his.

Oh fun! Cute pictures! Lookin' like summer time!! Those look like some pretty rocks!! And your cute little plants in the garden! You are just a lot more 'rock educated' than me--for sure! That would be a fun hobby--especially for little boys! Never know where this interest in 'geological' things might take them.
