1. Play guitar while kids in bath.....NOPE, I actually didn't even really play the guitar much more. I did learn one new song that I played with my sister and sang for my mom's birthday....but that's about it.
2. Give at least one partially musical fireside. Well, I didn't give any firesides. What I DID do was write a few more songs and I also made my first recording of one of them. SOOOOO fun and fulfilling! I want to write so much more, I just need to create the time with the disciple....but that will be part of 2012 goals. :)
3. Exercising....not so good. However, I am always re-motivated after a baby so this year I'm sure will be better.
4.waking up early....again...not so much
5. Play the piano more and learn and memorize a new song for each student recital of the year. I felt prompted to play my original songs at the student recitals this year. I memorized the song for the first recital (then totally transformed the song later so it is no longer memorized) and the second recital, I decided it was not worth the stress to create the time to memorize the song--so I just played it with music. It went much better the second time as I had learned you have to be right on top of the mic for it to really pick you up.
6. Be on top of home schooling. Get a consistent schedule the kids can
count on and stick to it. Make it fun, quality time that they enjoy. Be creative with it and give them a variety of learning activities.
I did improve a lot this year with homeschool. I found a kindergarten curriculum that I am happy with for Joshua that ties everything into the gospel. We got cute little desks and a white board. Although I am still not (and may never be) totally predictable with the days and times of school, I feel like it is quality time with the children and it works for me. When we skip school too many times I start feeling like I'm not getting real quality time with the kids, because it provides such nice one on one attention.
7. See MY side of the family more.
My family, especially Mandy, helped a lot with this one. I put the idea out there to have monthly family dinners and Mandy picked up the ball and ran with it, while everyone else happily agreed. It has been really nice to see everyone more. I think we only missed like 2 or 3 months this year and those were because of lives being hectic.
8. Once a month nursing home visits and student practice recitals at nursing home.
I did the monthly visit two or three times then slacked off on those. I have had my students do 2 practice recitals at the same nursing home this year. It is super fun to start to get to know some of the residents there, and for them to start recognizing my children and my students. I LOVE it. It was really cool because our ward splits and goes caroling and 5 or 6 different nursing homes one Sunday every December, and this year there was a group going to this nursing home I've been getting to know. I will be going there again in February with our neighborhood homeschool group. So fun. :)
Well, I think that's all I'm going to report back on. It was probably mostly to check in on myself anyway. :) Positive changes and growth definitely took place in 2011.
I am now free to start feeling out goals for next year.

This makes me feel better ONLY because I made SO many goals last year and didn't complete them all; however, I still think I overall improved on the goals I set because I still remembered them throughout the year...I just didn't complete them all...or very many, period. ;) I need to do a post like this too....it makes me feel more accountable when I put it up on the blog. We must be related! And YES you have done A LOT this year. I hope to be more proactive in the music goal genre this year. Love you--you are a great example!
Well WOW. The goals you set for yourself are crazy HUGE. Goodness me! But yah, you had an amazingly productive 2011! I think you did INCREDIBLY well! Those are NOT the goals that would jump into my mind when considering a woman with FOUR YOUNG BOYS and PREGNANT!! I think you are SuperWoman! Period.
O.K. woops. The above comment was from ME! Mandy was signed in on my computer and I didn't figure that out until I posted my comment.
Man, I don't know if I am brave enough to post how I did on my goals;) But this was inspiring!
