Fun Gardening

Thanks to Mom helping with the kids at the nursery yesterday, I finished planting the garden this morning!!  SO fun!  For some reason, for the first time this garden really feels like MINE.  Maybe it's because no neighbors helped me til it or gave me anything to plant and helped me.  I appreciate of course when those things have happened, but this year it just feels different.  It is also so fun of course to have a FENCE all the way around the yard!  I'm a grown up now!

The chicken wire on the side and the t-pee are for peas to grow up.  We've got 2 bell pepper plants, one jalapeno, 3 broccoli, 3 brussel sprouts, 2 lettuce, 2 garlic, 5 little yellow potatoe plants, 2 tomatoes, 1 cucumber and a grape vine (green grapes)!  I'm SO excited.  The grapes are called Niagra green grapes and I guess they are the kind used to make most white grape juice.  Hopefully they live and thrive!  Plus I've got a few scattered marigolds thrown in for beautifying and pest control.  In the front yard I have some cilantro in a pot and 2 raspberry plants.
Nala enjoying the new fenced yard and her new found freedom.
This is generally what she would do in the house all day. :)
Comfrey plant on the hill behind the fence.  Planted some lavendar there today also.
My 2 year old fuji apple tree on the hill behind the fence.
The pots that have been waiting to be planted since we moved here FIVE years ago!  Pretty huh!

Nice Am. Very proud and a bit jealous too! Are you boys excited to watch everything grow? And to weed and water?

Ha Trish! Well, Avin and Austin helped plant peas and they thought that was fun....I'm not sure anyone is excited to help me weed....I will let them help me water more once the danger of washing seeds out passes. I DO need to work on making it more of a FAMILY project this year, otherwise I never keep up with it. They love to eat the peas when they come on. And yeah Mom, lol. And I think only one of my thumbs is green cause I've killed my fair share of plants too! ;) But I'm excited to see the peas make a tp and cover the chicken wire....and I guess the grapes might not produce until next year, so this year I might just have to love the vine.

Man, I have tinges of desire to garden...ok, I have LOTS of desire for the results...but not the desires to prepare the garden. lol! Inspired....maybe I will actually ATTEMPT one...even to grow ONE thing soon....just intimidating when I have NO idea what I am doing...too bad you don't live close to mentor me and coach me as I go through it. Way to go....I don't know HOW you do all of these things.
